Hikaru is a deeply solitary person; yet, despite what he himself would say, his greatest wish is to have true companionship with another. Indeed, one might say he is built on contradiction: at once openly flaunting all that ostracizes himself from society while deeply wishing he could be a part of it, attempting to appear carefree while being deeply neurotic. At his best, he is an incredibly loving, thoughtful person, eager to provide and please those closest to him. But his own self-loathing frequently clouds his judgement, making things worse for both himself and others.

~Background~
༻✧༺
Born with albinism—a condition superstitiously associated with the damned goddess, Maiden Moon—Hikaru led a rough life. First it began with his father, a priest of Lady Sun, gouging his right eye out, and his mother killing him in defense of her child; this eventually led Hikaru and his mother to move to Soléiâ. There he struggled to fit in, now both because of his albinism and his ethnicity.
As a teenager Hikaru met Alex, a painter who would become his first love—but not long after they entered adulthood, Alex contracted a deadly illness which took his life. From then on, Hikaru attempted to fulfill his dream of becoming a physician, use his love of herbs to make medicine for others and help them avoid the same tragedy; yet, just the same as always, people mistrusted him, and he eventually took to becoming a nomad, wandering from place to place. As a young man he was given a necklace which, to his great surprise, summoned the infamous Maiden Moon. Seeing as she was as lonely as himself, he decided to befriend her, and for a short stint became her lover. For the next two decades, this was how he spent his life: no home, few friends, only occasionally giving medical care to the few who were not afraid of him, only the most tenuous ties to human society.
